Terms
Short, because there is not much to agree to. Using the converter means accepting these.
Your files stay yours
No ownership or licence in anything you open is claimed here, and none could be: the file is not received. It is read by code running in your browser and the JPG is written in the same place.
What is not promised
- That the tool is available. It is a static site and it may be down, moved or withdrawn.
- That a given PNG will decode. Browsers differ, and an unusual file may be refused with a reason rather than converted.
- That a JPG produced here is fit for a particular destination. Check the file before you upload it somewhere that matters.
- That the output size is predictable in advance. It is measured after the encode and reported; it is not guaranteed before it.
Limits that belong to the format
- JPEG stores a dimension in sixteen bits, so 65,535 pixels a side is the ceiling, and it is not ours to move.
- JPEG is an eight-bit format, so a 16-bit PNG loses the extra precision on the way through.
- JPEG has no alpha channel. Transparency is not compressed here, it is spent, and nothing in this site can return it.
Liability
The converter is offered as it is, with no warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from using it or from being unable to. Keep your originals.
Advertising and third parties
Google advertising may be served on these pages, under Google's terms rather than these. The privacy page says what that would and would not be able to see.
Changes
These terms may change. The version on this page is the one in force, and there is no notice period, because there is no account and nothing to migrate.
