Make the JPG's background the exact colour of the place it is going. Tap it in a screenshot, or type it.
Match the destination, not a swatch
A JPG has to be a full rectangle, so a transparent logo becomes a box of some colour. If that colour is exactly the colour of the slide, the email header or the shop page it goes on, the box disappears. If it is one level off, it shows. Guessing a hex rarely gets there; reading it from a screenshot of the destination does.
Under Matte, the destination picker takes a screenshot, shows it, and reads the colour under your tap (an average of nine pixels, so a speck of noise does not decide it). The browser eyedropper, where there is one, can pick from anywhere on your screen.
Before you rely on it
A gradient or photo background cannot be matched by one colour. The JPG will show a flat box on it.
Some sites recolour or compress uploads, which can shift a matched colour by a level or two.
Colour profiles: the page works in sRGB, which is what web pages and most slides use.
Questions about background colours
How do I match the colour of my website or slide?
Take a screenshot of the place the picture is going, choose “Pick from a screenshot of the destination”, and tap the background in it. The JPG's background becomes that exact colour, so the picture sits on the page with no visible box. In desktop Chrome and Edge the Eyedropper button can also take a colour from anywhere on screen.
Is the screenshot uploaded?
No. It is drawn in this tab so you can tap it, one colour is read from under your finger, and that is all. It is not converted, kept or sent.
Can I add a background to a PNG without making it a JPG?
Not on this site: it writes JPG and nothing else. A JPG cannot be transparent, so the colour you choose here is permanent in that file — keep the PNG as well if you might need it on another background.
Why does the edge look wrong on my colour in other tools?
Because the part-covered pixels along the edge still carry the colour the artwork was cut out of. On a colour of your own that shows as a faint rim. The edge repair takes those pixels' colour from the nearest solid pixel first, and every swatch shows your worst edge on that colour before you choose.
Are my recent colours remembered?
For this visit, yes. To keep them across visits, turn on Remember my settings under Output; they are then stored in this browser only, and turning it off deletes them.
